Who We Are

We are Ito’s family enjoy living and growing our family in the sunniest capital of Australia. We arrived in our new home of Perth in 2003 for further our studies and fell in love to the impressive beauty of Australian nature, Perth’s beaches and coastal lifestyle. How time flies and almost 20 years has passed, we still call Australia home!

Born and raised in Japan, Minoru brings to Australia broad experience in treating all types of musculoskeletal issues. Prior to coming to Australia, Minoru had worked as a Judo therapist (Physical Rehabilitation Therapist/Bonesetter) and Shiatsu therapist in Orthopaedic clinic in Tokyo for over 10 years. He graduated in Judo therapy 柔道整復術, a tradition bonesetting technique called Seikotsu-jutsu used for treating Japanese Samurais dated back to the 15th century (Warring States period), later days treating Judo and other Japanese traditional sport players. Along with the evolution of judo, Seikotsu-jutsu was also popularized, and evolved into coaptation, bonesetting and osteopathy. Judo therapy is a Japanese national qualification issued under the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare which uses conservative method based on traditional Japanese medicine and Western medical knowledge in 1920, the equivalent of Physiotherapists and Osteopath in Australia.

During his study, Minoru achieved a black belt in Judo. This fundamental mastery guides him to become expert in treating wounds and sport injuries with Traditional Japanese Medicine techniques originating from the Warrior class and fighters in feudal Japan. These combination of ancient and modern results in a treatment approach that is well designed to induce the most natural and rapid healing.

‘The merit of originality is not novelty; it is sincerity.’

Thomas Carlyle

Arriving in Australia, Minoru continued his practicing at Zen Acupuncture clinic in Subiaco since 2003. His thirst for professional development continued as I did further study and gained his Homeopathy qualification in WA. Minoru is as well highly trained in Shiatsu and comes from a family lineage of shiatsu specialists. He also uses stretching, Shiatsu massage, mobilisation and modern techniques, moxibustion and homeopathy to treat both acute and chronic problems. He is an accredited remedial massage therapist with Australian Natural Therapists Association Limited (“ANTA”).

Nagomi Japanese Medicine has been found in 2012 and together with my wife, Suri, we are launching “Yugen Japanese Medicine”, our new traditional Japanese Therapy clinic in Mount Hawthorn / Leederville. Suri is an explorer and world traveler (aka a petroleum engineer!). Her deep appreciation for the Japanese culture and tradition, as well as management and marketing skills leads Suri to join Yugen Japanese Medicine.

Our wishes are for you to get well and stay well. With more than 20 years of professional experience, we will help you to restore and maintain your health, balance and harmony.
